According to Odaily Planet Daily, a dispute has erupted between Ethereum developer Péter Szilágyi and Tomasz Stańczak, Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation. Szilágyi, a core member of the Geth (Go Ethereum, the main Ethereum client software) development team, stated that the Foundation had repeatedly proposed offering $5 million for the Geth team to become independent and separate from the Foundation. However, Szilágyi and his team declined the offer, choosing to remain within the Foundation. Previously, the Ethereum Foundation had provided $5 million in unconditional funding to Parity (another Ethereum client development company) to ensure the Ethereum network had multiple clients and to reduce reliance on Geth, indicating the Foundation’s long-term intention to diversify client development responsibilities. In response, Tomasz Stańczak, Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, clarified in a statement, “There are no plans to remove Geth. It is an excellent client and a talented team contributing to protocol security. We will maintain and support Geth.”
