WBTC Launches on the Aptos Network
BlockBeats News, July 22 — Aptos announced that LayerZero has launched a cross-chain version of WBTC based on the OFT standard, providing a new pathway for Bitcoin to bridge to Aptos. This version of WBTC can be seamlessly transferred across chains via LayerZero, without the need for additional wrapping or delays. As a result, Aptos further expands its native and secure sources of BTC liquidity.
With the launch of xBTC and the integration of WBTC-OFT, Aptos now offers Bitcoin holders two clear and composable DeFi entry routes. These two types of assets together remove long-standing barriers that have limited Bitcoin’s on-chain potential, streamlining transfer processes, unifying liquidity, and directly connecting BTC to Aptos’s high-performance DeFi ecosystem.
Aptos now boasts over $430 million in BTC-backed assets, $1.35 billion in stablecoin liquidity, and support from leading protocols such as Aries, Echo, and Hyperion, making it one of the most promising and capital-efficient destinations for Bitcoin deployment.
