Hunan You County Police Crack USDT Scam: Three-Person Gang Posed as "Crypto Socialites" to Steal Cryptocurrency
According to ChainCatcher, in the early hours of July 24, the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the You County Public Security Bureau in Hunan successfully dismantled a USDT scam operation, arresting three suspects: Tang, Zhang, and Xu.
Since April 2025, the group had rented a residential property to set up their base of operations. Using more than 30 mobile phones, over 10 computers, and overseas SIM cards, they posed as "single women in the overseas crypto community" on social platforms such as Tantan International and Telegram. They lured foreign men over the age of 26 into romantic relationships, then tricked victims into clicking links containing Trojan viruses under the pretense of "mining mechanisms" or "airdrop rewards," thereby stealing USDT assets from Trust Wallets. Police seized a number of devices at the scene, and the three suspects are currently under criminal detention.
