Federal Reserve's Collins: If supported by data, further small rate cuts are possible this year
Jinse Finance reported that Federal Reserve's Collins stated she is open to further interest rate cuts, as she expects price pressures to begin easing at some point next year. Collins pointed out: "It may be appropriate to further modestly lower policy rates this year, but this must be supported by data." She expressed her support for the Federal Reserve's decision earlier this month to cut rates by 25 basis points to the 4%-4.25% range, as this move helps with risk management in balancing employment and inflation targets. However, she added: "I still believe it is appropriate to maintain a moderately tight policy stance, as monetary policymakers need to minimize the risk of further weakening in the labor market while restoring price stability."
