OpenAI updates ChatGPT usage policy, prohibiting the provision of professional medical, legal, and financial advice

Jinse Finance reported that OpenAI updated the usage policy for ChatGPT on October 29, prohibiting its use in certain fields that were previously considered the most valuable applications—such as interpreting medical images, assisting with medical diagnoses, and providing legal or financial advice. This move aims to prevent ChatGPT (and any other OpenAI models) from outputting advice that could be considered professional, fiduciary, or legally binding, in order to comply with the EU AI Act and relevant guidelines from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
