Bitcoin has started 2025 with remarkable momentum, crossing $102,400 on Monday and settling around $101,750 by the afternoon—up nearly 9% in a week. This marks a strong start for the crypto market, reflecting what some call the "January effect," where assets often rally early in the year. Bitcoin's consistent price gains over the first five days of January haven’t been seen since 2018.
This surge follows BTC’s all-time high of $108,000 after Trump’s election win in late 2024, which was briefly interrupted by a December correction to $92,000 due to profit-taking and Federal Reserve concerns. Grayscale’s Rayhaneh Sharif-Askary noted such temporary pullbacks are typical in bull markets, emphasizing strong institutional demand as a stabilizing factor.

Bitcoin ETFs saw $908 million in inflows on Friday, rebounding from earlier outflows, while companies like MicroStrategy and KULR Technology Group continue acquiring Bitcoin aggressively. Additionally, Metaplanet aims to expand its holdings to 10,000 BTC in 2025.
As Trump’s inauguration approaches, regulatory clarity and Federal Reserve signals on interest rates may influence Bitcoin's trajectory. Analysts believe these macroeconomic factors, coupled with institutional interest, could shape a bullish outlook for the crypto market in January.
