U.S. Treasury prices extend losses after the Supreme Court overturns Trump’s tariff policy, raising investor concerns over U.S. debt issues. After the court made its ruling, Treasury yields rose across the board, with the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield climbing to 4.10%. “The market’s instinctive reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision was a decline in the dollar and pressure on longer-term bonds,” said Bipan Rai of BMO Asset Management. “We believe this will not be a dramatic shift in the long run, as the White House is likely to seek other measures to offset the loss of revenue.” Although investors had largely anticipated this ruling, the Treasury may now move more quickly to expand bond auctions, both to address the growing budget deficit and possibly to pay back funds that may be required to be refunded as a result of the decision.
