According to CoinDesk, the legal fund for Tornado Cash developers Roman Storm and Alexey Pertsev has received over $350,000 in funding and has gained public support from former National Security Agency (NSA) employee Edward Snowden.
Previously, Storm stated on X platform: "2024 will determine the rest of my life. Honestly, I am scared. But I also hope that this community can care passionately and donate to my legal defense." Snowden retweeted this message, requesting people's assistance and adding "privacy is not a crime."
Storm holds dual citizenship in the United States and Russia. In August 2023, he was arrested by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the United States on charges of money laundering and violating sanctions. He is currently under house arrest in Washington state and refuses to plead guilty to the charges. It is expected that he will stand trial in 2024. Roman Semenov is also facing charges but has not been arrested yet.
