Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said it was a miscalculation for Telegram CEO Pavel Durov to flee Russia and think he would never have to work with security services abroad, CNBC reported.
Medvedev, who often uses Telegram to criticize the West, said Durov wanted to be a “brilliant ‘citizen of the world,’ living a good life without his homeland.”
“He miscalculated,” Medvedev said. “For all our common enemies, he is Russian - and therefore unpredictable and dangerous.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it had sent a note to Paris requesting a meeting with Durov, even though he already had French citizenship.
