On 14 September, Layer 1 blockchain Aptos showed signs of growth in a sluggish crypto market, according to The Block. But as with all things in the blockchain space, it's all about the details and the data.
Last month, Aptos recorded 5.4 million active monthly addresses, a number that rivals even some of the more established chains. The platform also reached a peak of 578 million user transactions last month, indicating high activity within its ecosystem. Meanwhile, the APT token has shown resilience, rising a modest 4.9 per cent over the past 12 months.
Bot activity or airdrops can sometimes exaggerate the number of transactions and active addresses, The Block said. High transaction volumes do not necessarily mean that economic activity is meaningful. Promotional campaigns and token distributions can lead to temporary spikes in activity. Rapid growth is exciting, but a sustainable ecosystem requires a balance between new users and retained, engaged participants.
