On Nov. 5, less than a day before the election, Harris, the Democratic candidate for president of the United States, held rallies across Pennsylvania in an effort to demonstrate a vision of unity. “What you're going to do today, and what you've been doing, is let's enjoy it.” Harris said for her canvassers. At one of the events, Harris again avoided naming her Republican opponent, instead referring to Trump as “the other guy.” Harris said, “I'm very different from the other guy, and that's what everybody knows, and that's why you're here to help us get out the vote.” Harris said the divisiveness of contemporary American politics “leaves people feeling alone.” “So I've been thinking about what we're going to do on the campaign trail in the next 24 hours, and as we vote, as we canvass, let's be intentional about building community, building coalitions, reminding people that we all have more in common than separating us from each other.”
