Daisuke Ataka of the Japan Yamato Research Institute stated that if the results of the U.S. presidential election are delayed, there may be a risk of political stagnation, slowing down the transfer of power. He added: "Political stagnation could make it difficult to provide support quickly in a deteriorating economic situation." He also added: "Reflecting the wait-and-see attitude of businesses and households before and after the U.S. presidential election, the effect of (the Federal Reserve's) interest rate cuts may be delayed or weakened."
