On November 9, according to Crypto-News-Flash, Chile's consumer protection agency SERNAC has issued notices to World (formerly Worldcoin) and Rappi, demanding they cease iris scanning activities in the country.
It is reported that Rappi has clarified that it signed a memorandum of understanding with World for a pilot test of on-demand human proof services. The related iris scanning program will be trialed in Argentina in 2024, not as previously speculated in Chile. However, SERNAC claims to have received multiple investments related to World's operations in the country, including registering minors into the system, operators failing to disclose data and inability to delete data from the system.
