Prominent American entrepreneur Elon Musk has asked a U.S. court to prevent the OpenAI artificial intelligence research center from "illegally" transitioning into a for-profit enterprise. A spokesperson for OpenAI stated that Musk's application is "repetitive and still unfounded." In February of this year, Musk filed a lawsuit claiming that when he provided funding and other support for the establishment of OpenAI, there was an agreement with two co-founders of the company that OpenAI should be a "non-profit organization," but OpenAI violated its founding objectives and mission by pursuing profit instead. In June, Musk withdrew this lawsuit, only to refile it in August. This November, Musk escalated his lawsuit against OpenAI again, accusing it of trying to monopolize the generative artificial intelligence market.
