Jump Trading is suing its former software engineer, Liam Heeger, accusing him of running a "competitive business" in violation of his non-compete obligations. The company alleges that Heeeger, who co-led the large-scale blockchain project Firedancer at Jump, violated his non-compete agreement after resigning from the company on November 11. Documents show that Heeger has launched a new blockchain development enterprise that "directly competes with Jump". Jump claims that within one month of resigning, Heeger had already secured $3 million in financing at a valuation of $50 million, directly violating his contractual non-compete obligations. Jump also states that Heeger secretly raised funds for his new business at the Breakpoint conference in Singapore while he was still working for the company and co-leading the Firedancer project.
