ChainCatcher reports, according to CNN, the U.S. Treasury Department stated that the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) personnel dispatched by Musk have "read-only" access to its sensitive payment system worth 5 trillion dollars. The Treasury emphasized in a letter responding to legislators that current review work will not result in any payments being suspended or rejected, especially mandatory payments such as social security and medical insurance are unaffected.
This is the first time the Treasury has publicly detailed the functions of DOGE personnel, particularly the role of Tom Krause, CEO of Cloud Software Group. The letter mentioned that Krause is now an employee of the Treasury Department responsible for continuously assessing operational efficiency of payment systems and has "read-only access" to coding data.
