The Bitcoin mining company Bitdeer announced the acquisition of 19 acres of land and permits near Fox Creek in Alberta, Canada for $21.7 million. The plot has been granted permission to build a 101-megawatt natural gas power plant and is allowed to establish a 99-megawatt grid interconnection with the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO). Bitdeer plans to start site preparation work in the second quarter of 2025, and expects full power supply by the fourth quarter of 2026. In addition to land acquisition, it is estimated that an additional investment of $90 million will be needed for the natural gas power plant, while an extra $30 million is expected to be invested in infrastructure for the Bitcoin mining data center.
