The U.S. Department of Justice insists that Google divest its Chrome browser and stop interfering with its AI investments
according to court documents, the US Department of Justice still requires Google to sell its web browser Chrome, but no longer requires it to divest its investments in the field of artificial intelligence. This requirement was first raised during Joe Biden's presidency last year, however, during Trump's second term in office, the Department of Justice still seems to be sticking to this plan.
Earlier, the US Department of Justice and 38 state attorneys general filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, Judge Amit P. Mehta ruled that Google maintained its monopoly position in the field of internet search through illegal means. Google has stated that it will appeal this ruling and has also proposed an alternative proposal, stating that it will give partners more flexibility to address the concerns raised by Judge Mehta.
