Will the White House Organize a New Big Cryptocurrency Summit? Senior Official Answers

Bo Hines, Executive Director of the Presidential Working Group on Digital Assets, evaluated the possibility of a new cryptocurrency summit in his statement.

The White House is unlikely to host another large-scale crypto summit in the near future, according to Bo Hines, executive director of the Presidential Task Force on Digital Assets, with the administration instead planning to focus on smaller, more targeted discussions to address specific policy areas.

The shift comes after last week’s landmark White House crypto summit, where President Donald Trump brought together more than 30 top crypto industry executives and senior government officials in the State Dining Room. The event quickly became a sought-after event in crypto circles, prompting organizers to expand the seating area to accommodate the high-profile attendees.

As the administration continues to evaluate future engagement with industry leaders, Hines suggested that smaller “sub-sectoral summits” would allow for deeper discussions on pressing regulatory issues.

“We just want to make sure that this is a process that is efficient and that allows us to get the best information possible so that we can make good decisions,” Hines said in a statement.

These targeted discussions will likely focus on legislative initiatives currently being debated in Congress, particularly areas such as stablecoins and general market structure. Other special summits could cover topics such as centralized exchanges, crypto mining and energy consumption, and investment strategies.

Following Trump’s re-election, there was initial speculation that his administration would establish a permanent crypto council comprised of top industry executives. But plans changed in January, and the White House instead established a digital assets working group comprised of administration officials including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and artificial intelligence and crypto chief David Sacks.

Hines confirmed that after last week’s inaugural summit, the working group will meet to analyze industry feedback before coordinating with congressional leaders to outline concrete policy steps.
