According to a report by UK media outlet Sky News, British police and prosecutors have said that an official from the National Crime Agency (NCA) has been charged with allegedly stealing nearly £60,000 in Bitcoin while investigating organized cybercrime.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police stated that 42-year-old Paul Chowles is facing 15 charges related to the alleged theft of 50 Bitcoins in 2017. Eight years ago, these cryptocurrencies were worth close to £60,000 but are now valued at over £3 million. Chowles is due to appear in Liverpool Magistrates' Court next month.
