According to a report by Jinse Finance, the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating a former employee of the cryptocurrency payment service company DigitalMint. The employee is accused of reaching an agreement with hackers during a ransomware attack and illegally profiting from the ransom paid by victim organizations. DigitalMint President Marc Jason Grens informed partners of the investigation earlier this week. The company’s main business is to act as a negotiator in ransomware attacks and assist victim organizations with cryptocurrency payments.
