Ethereum Execution Clients Now Support Historical Data Pruning, Significantly Reducing Node Storage Requirements

Odaily Planet Daily News: The Ethereum Foundation has announced that starting today, all Ethereum execution clients now support pruning of pre-merge historical data, reducing the disk space required to run a mainnet node by 300-500 GB.
It is reported that this upgrade does not affect the normal operation of full nodes and validators, but only saves storage space. Archive node users and application developers who need access to complete historical data will need to gradually transition to external historical data providers. This move marks the first step in Ethereum’s implementation of the “historical data expiry” mechanism defined in EIP-4444, aiming to optimize network storage efficiency.
