Foresight News reports, citing Cointelegraph, that Consensys has acknowledged reports from some MetaMask users regarding "unusually high disk activity" and will soon release a fix. Previously, on June 24, user ripper31337 noted in a GitHub bug report that after reinstalling the MetaMask extension on Chromium-based browsers (such as Chrome, Edge, and Opera), the program continuously wrote data to the solid-state drive (SSD) in the background without any user interaction. This "abnormal disk writing" occurred at a rate of 5MB per second, totaling 500GB per day and accumulating to 25TB over three months.
