according to foreign media reports, Tesla (TSLA.O) was accused in a lawsuit on Friday of favoring visa holders over American citizens in its hiring decisions in order to pay lower wages. According to a proposed class action lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco, Tesla prioritized the hiring of visa holders "systematically" and disproportionately fired American citizens, violating federal civil rights laws. The lawsuit alleges that Tesla relies on H-1B visa holders, for example in 2024, the company hired about 1355 visa holders while laying off over 6000 people domestically in the United States, the "vast majority" of whom were considered American citizens. The lawsuit seeks compensation for all American citizens who applied for positions at Tesla in the United States but were not hired, or who were fired after working at Tesla
