OpenAI is bringing its affordable ChatGPT subscription plan to more countries outside of India. After introducing the ChatGPT Go paid plan—priced under $5 per month—to Indian users last month, the company is now launching the same offer in Indonesia at Rp75,000 (about $4.50) per month.
Positioned between OpenAI’s free service and the premium ChatGPT Plus plan, which costs $20 monthly, the ChatGPT Go plan provides a middle-ground subscription. Subscribers benefit from usage limits that are ten times higher than those of the free version, allowing for more questions, image generation, and file uploads. Additionally, the plan enables ChatGPT to better retain previous conversations, resulting in increasingly tailored responses over time, according to ChatGPT lead Nick Turley on X.
Turley noted that after the ChatGPT Go plan became available in India, the number of paying users has more than doubled.
With this expansion, OpenAI is now directly competing with Google, which earlier this month introduced its own AI Plus subscription in Indonesia at a similar price point. Google’s AI Plus gives customers access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro chatbot, as well as creative tools for making images and videos such as Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. The plan also offers upgraded features for Google’s AI research assistant NotebookLM, incorporates AI into Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, and includes 200GB of cloud storage.
