JPMorgan Completes First Tokenized U.S. Treasury Settlement on Public Blockchain
according to TokenFi, one of the world's largest banks, JPMorgan Chase, has completed its first transaction settlement involving US Treasury bonds on a public blockchain.
This transaction used Ondo Finance's tokenized US Treasury bonds and connected JPMorgan Chase's internal private system to the public Ethereum network through Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This marks the beginning of traditional financial institutions processing real-world assets (RWA) on public blockchains.
According to DeFiLlama data, the total value of tokenized real-world assets locked has exceeded $12 billion, distributed across more than 80 different platforms. BlackRock's tokenized money market fund currently holds nearly $3 billion, and there is also a sharp increase in demand for Ondo Finance's tokenized US Treasury bonds.
