Holo is a decentralized network that aims to help build truly serverless applications with high levels of security, reliability, and performance. It has an agent-centric approach, allowing applications to run on user devices and creating encrypted peer-to-peer networks.
The chain was created by Arthur Brock and Eric Harris-Braun in 2016. Holo had a successful ICO in 2018, raising more than $20.6 million in total.
Holo is different from other blockchains as it uses a distributed hash table (DHT) to store data locally on each participating node instead of a global ledger. This approach allows for greater scalability and reduced energy consumption while maintaining security and integrity. Also, the network develops a unique consensus called "agent-centric consensus", which allows each participant to run their own copy of codes as well as control their own identity and data, avoiding the power concentration of client/server and the inefficiency of blockchain while enabling richer interactions and collaboration.
Holochain's two pillars of application integrity are intrinsic data validity and peer witnessing. This approach makes the network function like organic cells working together in an organism, reducing central points of failure and bottlenecks while making the program more secure and less expensive to use.
HOT is the native token of Holo. It is used to facilitate transactions, incentivize users, and create a self-sustaining economy for the network.
HOT has a total supply of 177,619,433,541 and a circulating supply of 173,342,974,127.
