Ninjalerts has successfully engraved a Nintendo 64 emulator on the Bitcoin network, following its engraving of a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator on the same network last month. The project combines 1990s gaming nostalgia with blockchain technology, allowing users to play multiplayer games in the Ordinals browser and market. Ninjalerts emphasizes that this project is committed to promoting legal and ethical technological capabilities while respecting copyright laws. The platform also provides tools and guides for uploading Read-Only Memory (ROM) game files in an encrypted and password-protected format to Bitcoin. In addition, Brotli compression technology introduced by the Ordinals protocol significantly reduces file size, making it possible to engrave larger systems like N64 and their games into reality. For example, N64 games like "GoldenEye 007" can be effectively stored in a single Bitcoin block after compression or split into several transactions not exceeding 400kb each. This technological breakthrough offers unique opportunities for preserving larger, more complex games from the era of Nintendo 64 especially when Bitcoin transaction fees are currently at their lowest level in over a year. The Pizza Ninjas project embeds an N64 emulator into every Ninja avatar NFT, allowing users to play games in any Ordinals explorer or market browser by loading ROMs from their computers or existing engravings on Bitcoin.
