Trump memecoin launch propels Moonshot into top 10 on US Apple App Store
Memecoin launchpad Moonshot has become the top finance app on the U.S. Apple App Store, and the #7 most popular free app overall, in the wake of President-elect Trump's $TRUMP memecoin launch on Friday night.
Trump's memecoin skyrocketed in price soon after launch as traders recovered from their initial skepticism; the token currently boasts a fully-diluted value of over $30 billion.
$TRUMP's success bolstered memecoin launchpad Moonshot, a competitor to Pump.fun also based on the Solana blockchain, which was featured on the token's website as the preferred way to purchase the tokens using either crypto or a debit card. Moonshot also supports deposits through Apple Pay.
As Moonshot shot up the rankings on the U.S. Apple App Store, outranking apps such as Instagram and TikTok, the team behind the platform celebrated the launch with a post on its X account.
"In the last 12 hours, we were featured on $TRUMP’s website as THE way to buy, processed nearly $400m in volume, crushed fiat onramp records by orders of magnitude, and brought 200k+ new people onchain," Moonshot's X account posted on Saturday .
The record-breaking traffic led to some issues on the platform, which the team pledged to work through. "We have an extremely high load right now and are getting through all the support tickets," Moonshot said.
