Patrick McHenry, a former Republican Congressman from North Carolina, has joined the tokenized real-world asset (RWA) firm Ondo Finance as the vice chairman of its advisory board, reports Fortune Crypto.

McHenry will help Ondo foster beneficial relationships in Washington and elsewhere, Fortune Crypto continues.

McHenry served in the United States Congress from 2005 to January 2025. He announced in December 2023 that he would not seek re-election . During his time as a lawmaker, he adopted a friendly stance toward cryptocurrency and introduced legislation to help regulate the industry, such as a bill regulating stablecoins .

After retiring from Congress, McHenry holds advisory roles to the payments firm Stripe and the venture capital firm a16z , along with Ondo Finance.

Ondo Finance develops a decentralized finance platform for tokenized RWAs, including U.S. Treasuries , bonds and other securities . The firm launched its own Layer 1 network called Ondo Chain on Feb. 6.
