Token Metrics CEO Ian Balina said on Wednesday that he expects the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to drop its lawsuit against him, ending a three-year legal battle over allegations that he violated U.S. securities laws. "This is official news: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will withdraw its charges against me," Balina wrote on Twitter.
"This was never just about me, but about fairness in cryptocurrency." Balina's charges stemmed from a September 2022 order alleging that he did not disclose compensation received while promoting Sparkster's (SPRK) initial token offering. In support of the CEO's statement, Token Metrics tweeted on Monday that the charges had been "withdrawn", adding that "a shift in enforcement trends may be occurring".
