According to ChainCatcher, citing Decrypt, the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office this week filed charges against Murad Mahajna of Tel Aviv and two accomplices, accusing them of orchestrating a home invasion robbery targeting a Herzliya cryptocurrency trader, involving nearly $600,000.
According to the prosecution, the three suspects ambushed the victim, a father of two, in the stairwell of his apartment building, bound his hands with cables, and assaulted him. The suspects initially demanded 500 BTC (approximately $61 million). After the victim refused to hand over his wallet credentials, one of the attackers stabbed his legs with a knife. Following an hour-long ordeal, the victim was forced to surrender account access, and the attackers transferred $547,000 worth of Bitcoin and $42,000 worth of USDT. They also stole a Rolex watch valued at $50,000, a laptop, and a Trezor hardware wallet, among other items.
