On Thursday, Reddit revealed that its AI-driven search tool is now accessible in five additional languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. This rollout brings the feature to regions such as Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Italy.
People who have chosen any of these languages as their primary setting, rather than English, are now able to interact with the AI through a question-and-answer chat. The technology behind this feature is powered by a Google AI model.
Reddit originally launched its AI-based search last year and has since been enhancing and broadening its capabilities. This tool is included in Reddit Answers, which operates alongside the platform’s standard search function.
In August, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman shared that over 70 million users utilize Reddit search each week, while more than 6 million people make use of Reddit Answers. He also mentioned intentions to streamline the search experience during the company’s quarterly financial report.
Since ChatGPT added web search, chat-based and Q&A search formats have become increasingly popular. Established search providers like Google and Brave have launched similar tools to boost user interaction and loyalty. Meanwhile, emerging companies such as Perplexity have also attracted attention with their conversational search platforms.
