Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan said the traditional view that tokens do not capture value is outdated. According to ChainCatcher, he cited several protocols using buyback and burn mechanisms to capture value, including Hyperliquid, Pump, Uniswap, Aave, Aptos, and proposed changes for Solana. Hougan said Hyperliquid directs more than 97% of fees to buybacks, with cumulative buybacks exceeding $2 billion. He said Pump has burned 36% of its supply and locks 50% of revenue for burns, while Uniswap has burned 107 million UNI and activated its fee switch. He also pointed to Aave's automatic buybacks, Aptos' fixed supply and fee burns tied to 10x growth, and Solana's proposal to increase fee burns by 12 to 14 times. Hougan said the market has not yet fully repriced these changes.
