Aleph Zero is a public blockchain that uses a novel, peer-reviewed consensus protocol called AlephBFT, which utilizes a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture for faster time to finality. It is not a DAG, but a blockchain that uses a DAG as an intermediary data structure. Aleph Zero aims to solve the Blockchain Trilemma of achieving all security, scalability, and decentralization at the same time. It will introduce a privacy layer called Liminal in 2023.
The blockchain was created by Adam Gągol, Matthew Niemerg, Michał Świętek, and Antoni Żółciak in 2022.
How Aleph Zero (AZERO) Works
Aleph Zero employs a heavily modified Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus methodology in conjunction with Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG) to achieve faster transaction speeds and higher throughput. The protocol also uses Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) architecture to ensure effective communication between nodes and employs rotating committees to guarantee decentralization. Also, Aleph Zero handles malicious nodes and users through a freezing tool rather than slashing funds.
AZERO is the native token of the blockchain that is used for staking and securing the network.
