ARPA Chain is a layer-2 solution that focuses on security and privacy. Besides the use of already-existing security methods such as Homomorphic Encryption, Zero-Knowledge Proofs, and Trusted Execution Environments, it deploys its own Multiparty Computation (MPC) model that enables different parties to work on the same task without revealing their inputs to one another. These together with sharding allows the network to achieve both security and scalability.
ARPA Chain offers data renting and secure private smart contract services for both individuals and enterprises. Its partners include AlibabaCloud, Sinochem, JD.com, IOST, and Zhejiang University, to name a few.
ARPA Chain consists of two layers:
- Protocol layer, where nodes contribute computational power to receive ARPA tokens, node activities are recorded, and MPC is prepared for the computation layer.
- Computation layer, where MPC is executed and data is verified.
Unlike most other networks, ARPA Chain uses three mechanisms for consensus:
- Proof of Correctness (PoC), which is a consensus mechanism quite similar to PoW. But with PoC, only a few nodes are assigned work instead of all nodes in PoW.
- Proof of Computation, which records the amount of computation completed by nodes and releases rewards accordingly.
- Proof of Secureness, which verifies off-chain computation done in Trusted Execution Environments.
ARPA is the native governance and utility token of the ARPA chain. There are 2 billion tokens in total supply, and 1.24 billion in circulation.
