At 1 p.m. Eastern Time on February 27, Forward Research, a core institution of the Arweave ecosystem, held an online press conference to officially launch AO, a decentralized parallel computing layer based on the Arweave permanent storage network. Nearly 300 members from this ecosystem were invited to participate in this event. Sam Williams, founder of Arweave, provided detailed information about AO and announced the opening of its testnet at the meeting. Currently, developers who want to participate in the testnet can visit this link for more details.
AO is a decentralized computer that can run any number of processes (programs) in parallel. It uses Arweave as a shared information transmission layer which allows processes running within the AO computing network to interact with any other process in the network without needing permission.
In addition, The Arweave ecosystem has also established an affiliate organization called ArweaveOasis in Asia which will focus on serving Asian
markets especially Chinese-speaking ones in future.
