Canada's crude oil exports hit a record high in January
Golden Ten Data reported on March 31 that Canada’s crude oil exports at the beginning of the year reached a historic high, mainly due to the country’s primary energy production (energy forms obtained directly from nature, without human transformation) rising to its highest level since records began in 2020. According to data from Statistics Canada, primary energy production in January increased by 3.5%, reaching 2.2 million gigajoules. Driven by growth in domestic consumption and exports, commercial natural gas production rose by 6.3% year-on-year, setting a new record for the third consecutive month. Natural gas exports increased by 11%, also hitting a new record. Crude oil production increased by 1.4% year-on-year, but remained below the record high set in December last year. Nevertheless, fueled by shipments to destinations other than the United States, crude oil exports rose by 5.8%, reaching a record 21.8 million cubic meters.
