Ripple expects to fully release over 41 billion XRP from its escrow wallet by 2027
Ripple recently released its Q3 market report, disclosing its XRP holdings and market operations. As of the end of Q3, Ripple's company account had a disposable balance of over 5.25 billion XRP. These funds are used for operational purposes at the discretion of the company. Over 41 billion XRP is held in escrow wallets. Ripple receives monthly releases of 1 billion XRP from these escrow wallets (for sales or operational expenses), with a portion usually being sold. The report shows that Ripple sold nearly 892 million XRP between July and September. However, Ripple typically returns most of the received XRP back to escrow wallets. For example, since August, approximately 800 million XRP has been returned to escrow wallets each month. Based on the pattern of releasing and re-escrowing tokens from their escrow wallets, it is possible that complete release may take longer than initially estimated (Ripple stated that these locked tokens would be released monthly over a period of 42 months starting from late October). Ripple estimates that by early 2027, around 40 billion escrowed XRP will be fully released. However, considering Ripple's practice of re-escrowing most released funds each month, the final release date may exceed this timeline.
