Star Trek director Jonathan Frakes to direct Web3-based sci-fi drama Land of the Dead

Bitcoin pioneer Jeff Garzik's production company NextCypher has teamed up with Star Trek's Jonathan Frakes to direct an adaptation of the science fiction novel Deathlands. Frakes previously played Commander Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation and has directed TV series including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Picard and Leverage: Redemption. Land of the Dead, based on the novel series by James Axler and Jack Adrian, follows a group of survivors who use teleportation to travel through a post-apocalyptic world.NextCypher Productions plans to utilise Web3 technologies such as non-homogenising tokens (NFTs) to offer fans early involvement in the production of the opportunities for fans to participate early in the production.
