Telegram: The advertising platform is planning to open to advertisers in March, and channel owners can receive Toncoin economic rewards
Telegram founder Durov announced that starting from March, the Telegram advertising platform will officially open to advertisers in nearly a hundred countries/regions. Channel owners will be able to receive 50% of the revenue generated from displaying ads in their channels on Telegram. To ensure fast and secure ad payments and withdrawals, Telegram will use TON and share revenue with channel owners through Toncoin. Addressing concerns from the crypto community that using TON for ad sales may lead to Telegram holding an unhealthy amount of Toncoin, Durov stated that in order to limit Telegram's TON holdings to around 10% of the total supply, they will sell upcoming surplus TON holdings at a discounted price below market value based on lock-up periods ranging from 1-4 years and cash-out plans to long-term investors. This approach aims to stabilize the ecosystem by locking up freely floating TON tokens and reducing volatility.
