Starknet Foundation: Starknet 0.13.1 upgrade will be carried out when Ethereum Dencun is upgraded to reduce transaction fees
According to The Block, the Starknet Foundation announced that the Starknet mainnet will be upgraded to Starknet 0.13.1 when Ethereum Dencun is upgraded. The Starknet 0.13.1 upgrade adds support for EIP4844 to reduce DA fees, as well as shared prover SHARP-related optimizations to reduce calculate cost. With the Starknet 0.13.1 update, Starknet will transition from using the expensive “calldata” method of sending data to Ethereum to the more cost-effective “blobs” transaction type, significantly reducing fees. Calldata currently accounts for 85% to 90% of the gas fees paid for publishing transactions on the Starknet network.
In addition, Starknet said it will support Dynamic Layouts technology by the end of the third quarter, which can optimize the space within transaction proofs and significantly reduce costs, thereby reducing user fees. Starknet will also launch the Volition feature in late 2024 or early 2025 to further reduce fees and allow developers to choose to store data directly on the blockchain or off-chain based on cost and security needs.
