Ethereum core developers agree to add EIP-7251 to the Electra upgrade
Ethereum core developers have agreed to include the increase of maximum effective balance EIP-7251 in the Electra upgrade, also known as Maximum EB, allowing validators to hold an effective balance between 32 and 2,048 ETH. Currently, when a validator's balance exceeds 32 ETH, it is not activated and does not receive proof and validation rewards. With the increase in rewards, validators can now earn consensus layer rewards for balances exceeding 32 ETH. Any balance over 32 ETH will be reduced. This update also reduces operating costs for large coin makers by minimizing the number of required validators. Core developers are also considering including EIP-7547 in the Pectra upgrade.
