Bursa Malaysia CEO: Cryptocurrency trading services are not in line with exchange’s mission to support real economy and value growth
Datuk Muhamad Umar, the CEO of Bursa Malaysia (BURSA, 1818, Main Board Financial Services Group), stated in an interview with Business Times that cryptocurrency trading services do not align with the exchange's mission to support the real economy and value growth. Therefore, the exchange has ruled out the possibility of offering cryptocurrency on its multi-asset trading platform. Cryptocurrency is not a real asset and has no intrinsic value. Our goal is to help companies raise funds, expand their businesses, hire personnel, and generate profits. Cryptocurrency cannot achieve any of these objectives.
