Paris 2024 Employs Conventional Ticketing Despite Initial Crypto Discussions
In 2022, French authorities considered implementing blockchain-based ticketing for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics due to security concerns at the Champions League final. The plan included non-transferable tickets with a virtual security perimeter activated via QR codes that would disintegrate upon entry. However, there has been no further discussion about utilizing blockchain for ticketing, and tickets are now being sold through conventional methods. Despite this, French IT firm Atoz is managing accreditation, results, athlete entries, schedules, workforce, and IOC Athletes’ Commission voting for the event.
