Consensys has received a Wells notice from the U.S. SEC and is suing the SEC over Ethereum regulatory issues
PANews reported on April 26th, according to The Block, Consensys filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Thursday, claiming it is trying to classify ETH as securities. In its complaint, Consensys stated that the SEC has been "attempting to illegally regulate Ethereum through special enforcement actions against Consensys and other companies." It is seeking court confirmation of whether the SEC has legal authority to regulate user-controlled software interfaces built on Ethereum. Additionally, the US SEC has issued a Wells notice to Consensys accusing MetaMask of operating as an unlicensed broker.
