Forbes published an article listing 20 'zombie tokens' with a market value exceeding 1 billion US dollars
Forbes has listed 20 "zombie tokens" in the crypto field with a market value of over $1 billion, including: XRP, ADA, BCH, LTC, ICP, ETC, XLM, STX, KAS, THETA, FTM,XMR , AR , ALGO , FLOW , EGLD , BSV , MINA , XTZ and EOS. Forbes defines "zombie tokens" as assets that are almost useless except for speculative cryptocurrency trading.
For example according to Messari data shows that the market value of XRP is $36 billion but last year Ripple's XRP only processed transactions fees on its network worth $583000. According to Wall Street this means that the price-to-sales ratio (P/E) of XRP is 61689. In contrast Nvidia has a market capitalization exceeding $2 trillion annual revenue of $61 billion and P/E ratio is only 37 times. Another example Ethereum Classic (ETC) has a market cap of $4.6 billion but generated less than $41000 in fees in 2023.
Other examples include ADA which Forbes believes its popularity correlates directly with its founder Charles Hoskinson's popularity but it’s based on lies; Hoskinson claimed he dropped out from his PhD program at University of Colorado Boulder however school stated that Hoskinson merely dropped out from undergraduate studies. Over years Hoskinson hinted Cardano would work for Department Of Defense's famous research department--Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency yet there was no clear news about it . However he owns an 11000-acre farm in Wyoming and recently opened an anti-aging and regenerative medicine center in Gillette town.
