Speculation is mounting that former President Donald Trump may announce plans to make Bitcoin a strategic reserve for the US at the upcoming Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville.
Satoshi Action Fund co-founder and CEO Dennis Porter ignited the rumors in a July 18 post on X.
“Trump to announce a USA Bitcoin strategic reserve in Nashville – Sources,” Porter wrote, adding that his sources are “credible.”
Bitcoin 2024 Could Be A Platform For Major Announcements
Bitcoin 2024 is regarded as one of the biggest annual crypto conferences worldwide, and has been used as a platform to make some of the industry’s biggest announcements over the years.
During last year’s event, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made history by announcing that his political campaign would be the first Presidential campaign to accept crypto donations.
The launch of Ark, a new layer-2 scaling solution for the Bitcoin network, was also announced at last year’s event. Other notable announcements include those regarding the launch of the first NFT marketplace on Bitcoin and Strike’s expansion into 65 countries.
Trump announcing Bitcoin as a strategic reserve would match the expected caliber of any announcements at the upcoming conference.
No Confirmation That Donald Trump Will Announce A US BTC Reserve
There has been no confirmation from the Trump’s campaign team that such an announcement will be made during the former president’s appearance.
And even if Trump were to announce BTC as a strategic reserve, there is no guarantee that he will follow through if elected.
One X user highlighted some of the promises made by Trump that he did not deliver on. Those included the wall that the former president said he would build on the Mexican border, as well as promises that he would put Hillary Clinton in jail and pay off the national debt.
