All three major U.S. indexes closed up more than 1 per cent, with the Dow recording its fourth straight weekly gain
U.S. stocks opened higher, the three major indexes closed collectively higher. The Dow rose 1.64%, this week's cumulative rise of 0.75%, recorded a weekly four consecutive gains; S&P 500 index rose 1.11%, this week's cumulative decline of 0.85%; the Nasdaq rose 1.03%, this week's cumulative decline of 2.08%. Both the Nasdaq and S&P 500 are down two weeks in a row. Most of the large technology stocks rose, Meta rose more than 2%, Microsoft, Amazon rose more than 1%, Apple, Nvidia, Intel rose slightly; Tesla, Google, Nifty fell slightly. 3M rose about 23%, the biggest one-day gain since at least 1980.
