Fake Elon Musk Scam Appears on YouTube to Scam Users into Sending Cryptocurrency
On July 29, Bitcoin.com reported that a double-money scam impersonating Elon Musk has been appearing on Youtube for the past three days. The scam masquerades as an official Bitcoin 2024 live stream, tricking users into sending their crypto assets.
Scammers used previous videos of Elon Musk with background swaps to disguise themselves as him live streaming from the Bitcoin 2024 conference, defrauding over $28,000 in crypto assets from just one particular video. The scam uses the typical double-money-back rhetoric to lure users into sending any amount of cryptocurrency with the promise of receiving twice the amount sent.
